George Wayne
President & Chairman

Founder

George is a serial entrepreneur and founder of multiple, successful, venture-backed startups in the networking and telecom technology space, including one of the very first successful TCP/IP product companies (Internet Systems Corporation/Network Solutions). Wayne has pioneered products, services and solutions in the telecom/internet, automotive, aerospace, and medical industries. Wayne graduated Summa Cum Laude from Regis University with a BS in Computer Science, completed the Software Engineering Institute’s Software Architecture program (certificated), and UC San Diego’s Mobile Wireless and Fiber-Optic Communications programs. (certificated).

 

Ed Carney
Chief Executive Officer & Director

Founder

Ed has over 30 years of experience leading research and development, and customer support teams. His experience includes general management at Cisco Research Triangle Park, North Carolina where he spent 15 years, and prior to that with IBM. At Cisco, Mr. Carney was vice president of the Networked Solutions Integration Test Engineering laboratory and was the senior executive for its RTP site. He spent 15 years at IBM where he directed engineering for the IBM Global Network. Mr. Carney serves on the Board and is past Chairman for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Mr. Carney holds a B.S. in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.

Byron Shaw
Director

Founder

Principal and owner of Byron Shaw LLC, a consulting firm providing diligence, strategy and execution advisory services focusing on automotive technology and related services. From 2006 to 2012, Dr. Shaw worked at General Motors in various positions, most recently as Managing Director of the Silicon Valley Office for General Motors Ventures LLC. Previously worked at BMW from 1998 to 2003 holding various positions, including Principal Technology Engineer Manager of Advanced Technology. Dr. Shaw currently serves on the Board of Directors or Advisory Board of several companies, including Gentherm, Smalltech LLC, Project Renovo, Auto Tech Ventures, Up Shift Cars and Rotary Wing Engine. Dr. Shaw received Bachelor of Science degrees and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering/controls from University of California, Berkeley.

Adam Needle
VP of Engineering

Founder

Adam specializes in digital board design and layout, FPGA design and distributed control systems, multi-gigabit communication links, and embedded software development. He has over 12 years of experience in embedded systems for commercial and high-reliability products serving industrial and military customers. He is an Engineering Fellow at Northrop Grumman. Adam earned his B.S. & M.S. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Michael Wayne

Founder

Michael is a second generation entrepreneur who began his career as a contract business development consultant to high-technology ventures in nanotechnology manufacturing, 3D mobile device software, and intelligent transportation systems development. He is the founder of the Linkedin business matchmaking project called Coffee Shop Connectivity that has connected over 1100 local entrepreneurs with Angels, Venture Capitalists and Technology Executives from North Carolina, Silicon Valley, Boston, Washington D.C., Canada, European Union and Israel. Michael is a strategic planner and heads up communications and messaging at QNI.
