George Wayne, President & Chairman
George Wayne is the Master and Commander of Qualia Networks. From his first internship at Argon National Laboratory to the $300M acquisition price tag of ACC to Ericsson, George Wayne has made the innovation cycle his playground for commercial success.
Adam Needle, VP of Engineering
Adam specializes in digital board design and layout, FPGA firmware design, distributed control systems, multi-gigabit communication links, and embedded software development. He has 10 years of experience in embedded system design for commercial and high-reliability products serving industrial and military customers. Presently, he is an Engineering Fellow at Northrop Grumman. Adam earned his B.S. & M.S. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Michael Wayne, VP Business Development
Michael is a second generation entrepreneur who began his career as a contract business development consultant to high-technology ventures in nanotechnology manufacturing, 3D mobile device software, and intelligent transportation systems development. He's also the founder of the LinkedIn Southeastern US Venture Capital & Startups matchmaking group, Coffee Shop Connectivity.
Ed Carney, Founder & Board Member
Mr. Carney spent 15 years in general management at Cisco Systems, including as Vice President of Cisco's Networked Solutions Integration Test Engineering (NSITE) laboratory and was the senior executive for its RTP site. Prior to Cisco, Mr. Carney spent 15 years at IBM where he directed engineering for the IBM Global Network. Mr. Carney serves on the board of directors and is past chairman for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Mr. Carney holds a B.S. in General Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.
Byron Shaw, Founder & Board Member
Dr. Shaw has been the President of Byron Shaw LLC, a consulting firm providing diligence, strategy and execution advisory services focusing on automotive technology and related services, since 2012. From 2006 to 2012, Dr. Shaw worked at General Motors in various positions, most recently as Managing Director of the Silicon Valley Office for General Motors and General Motors Ventures LLC. From 1998 to 2003, he worked at BMW in various positions, including Principal Technology Engineer and Manager of Advanced Technology. Dr. Shaw currently serves on the Board of Directors or Advisory Board of several privately-held companies, including Smalltech LLC, Project Renovo, Qualia Networks, Auto Tech Ventures, Up Shift Cars and Rotary Wing Engine. Dr. Shaw received Bachelor of Science degrees and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering/controls from University of California, Berkeley.
